YEAR 2004+ ANSWERS
TO QUESTIONS ON U-CAN-INTERNATIONAL. |
1. What does U-CAN-Intn'l mean and who exactly is U-CAN?
U-Can stands for Uganda-Canada-Intn'l, the central locations
at which our job-creation activities are based. This is
through computer exports, African gifts imports, gift
items disribution, cross-cultural education, and I.T. educational activities. |
U CAN Sounds: Nor Silver Nor Gold ucangift99.0catch.com Luke.4:33-36
John.14:12 2 Tim.1:7 |
U-Can is a network of individuals, organizations and
businesses - all of who contribute in various ways towards
the realization of the above goals. These activities
result in the creation of jobs. They also translate into
support particularly towards education of our supported
AIDS or WAR orphans. Cross-cultural education is a major
component of our work conducted through Student Associations
by our Not-For-Profit (N.P.O) Student Association branch. |

Acts.16:25-34 |
2. Is U-Can a Christian organization and how does that
impact for example on the non-christian orphans supported.
U-Can is founded on the universal divine love and does continue to operate on the same foundation. She openly embraces all persons of all denominations,
most especially those who do believe in love - that
love or God is reality. We all therefore have worked along cordially without any religious based frictions arising up. |
I Cor.13 & Is.43:2-3a (TEV) |
It is important to note with regard to the orphans, that
persons who are committed to work with U-Can in any capacity are all doing so because they want to and love to. This makes her quite an organization of committed persons:
persons who are able to float above challenges or
to stand firm in the midst of them. This is one among many positive influences on the orphans supported
- through formal and moral education among others. |
 ucangift99.0catch.com Rev.21:1-4 |
It is also important to note that many U-Can persons are
widows, widowers and orphans who have seen or gone through horror experiences invloving dis eases or war. Through mind
maturity & spiritual development, they do come out of the wilderness of these horrors and live joy-filled meaningful lives.

it is the innocent green grass that is destroyed"

3. WHO IS BEHIND U-CAN INT'L,
WHO IS THE MAIN SUPPORTER OF U-CAN?
God is the main supporter of U-CAN as in Ps.121:2
and that is the truth. We do all that we can through our various programs, to be self (-ves) dependent.
The orphan supporters for example come from all walks
of life - ranging from individuals as itinerant barbers, to
small business owners to the large 'faceless' corporations.
Many times they see us on the web and e-mail us to purchase our items or simply to give to us some support (thank you!);
sometimes we ask them if they can support our work, and honestly we also never know until we ask
- Mat.7:7. Our master says in the book of life...not by words alone but 'by their actions you shall know them'. |
 Is.43:2-3a (TEV) I John.4:4 cube-e.co.jp/ip/ interplanet.htm |
4. HOW CAN ONE BE V.SURE ONE'S SUPPORT
IS RECEIVED BY PERSONS OF ONE'S CHOICE?
FAITH is maintained through open communications,
including with those who are supported, as a main key.
Our school bursers for e.g in the 1970s gave out funds to supported orphaned students on a bi-weekly basis.
Through communication particularly e-mail and cell phone technologies, one can keep in close touch with those who one supports. This is whether they are in schools, in homes or in the remote rural areas among other places. Our huge-hearted volunteers are ever on standby to keep us in touch directly or through our offices.
One can therefore support any child or persons of one's choice directly, or do so through our offices. The support is received either way - less the normal official costs of transfers and administration.
We most highly encourage you to experience the joy of sharing by making +ve differences in a persons' life(-ves).

5. CAN ONE ADOPT AWAY ANY OF THE CHILDREN?
WE THANK ALL persons so very much for their deep love.
U-CAN activities however aim at orphans-caring and support
of babies and children from within their own countries
/ homeland societies. This is as opposed to adoption away or estrangement of the child(ren) from their own cultural heritage, extended family, relatives & loved ones.
It is to us human, morally right & v.important that one as well respects the feelings of those who one endeavours to support. We hear for e.g the orphaned childrens' choir on stage yearly singing: "we do not want to be adopted. We want to stay home & study & become lawyers, doctors, engineers.."
It is important to note as well that U-CAN does not and shall not at some point for whatever the reasons, participate in any forms of mind, soul or physical body (gender) slavery: 'where love is, there is freedom.' |
 Ps.46:1-3 God Is Our Strength www.nupge.ca newark.ohio-state.edu www.faculty.mckendree .edu/william_harroff/ ebel/librarians |
We are most thankful to N.G.O agencies that bring devt. home to the children as more persons do benefit that way.
Many Scandinavian among other countries do this very well.
USAID for e.g by setting up a high sch. for girls in Uganda (T.G.S) has educated hundreds of orphans over several years. Many of them have on their own accord, proceeded on to excellent colleges or univ.s within and worldwide. God truly is everywhere and our strength comes from God.

6. OUR MESSAGE TO ALL THOSE SUPPORTED?
We have from 1985 listened to a wide variety of
stories
from the children that are based on real life experiences.
Some of them require plenty of heart-muscle strength to live above - we support dev.t of this through hope among others:
regarding missed education for example, we can assure all that this can be commenced and completed at anytime.
We have had students in their 20s & in their mid 60s all in
1 class complete their (masters degree) programs successfully.
We all have to be ready to accept the sometimes non-change- able past and endure on in moving on onwards with hope...
This is into a hopefully much more bright future
here and in the next world to which everyone shall proceed.
We've known peace before so we know PEACE IS POSSIBLE.

7. Does the educational work of U-Can conflict
for e.g with that of other orphans-caring organizations?
Orphanhood in very many cases is a product of
conflict, so
the challenge can only be faced through unity in love.
This is the hand that we extend to all friends of orphans.
Our main focus is on empowering the children most esp.
through educ. so they can be self reliant in future.
U-Can is very fully united with & participates as
a very strong
team member with all others in this endeavour. This most
esp. is with those at the grass - roots in caring, such as
the:Ug. Orphans Rural Dev.t Program (UORDP);
Ug. Widows and Orphans Dev.t Ltd. (UWODEL); Apac and
others on African Womens' Dev.t Networks (AWODNET).
We thank all of you individuals, businesses & N.G.Os who do support us towards shouldering the challenges successfully.
Thanks for being the very bright lights at the end of our tunnels. |

8. Our selections critera regarding
educ. sponsorships?
That is the silent question we are faced with
all the
time as we communicate with children - some of who have to admire others going to sch.(in their own words).
We endeavour to give priority considerations to those in the most tight situations - which leaves out many who also require the basics plus sch. fees.
The life-long learning journey: 20 years ago in 1984 during our "bring the university
to the people" tour, we MUK students did address the
public & ladies' groups in each one of Uganda's 56 districts.
This same question of educ. (& dev.t) for all, was a serious
concern, discussed esp. by & with the various ladies' groups.
We promised as students, to always bring education and to "bring the university to the people" in all ways possible.
To date our Student Association(s) are carrying on the same messages for educ. They are & shall be contributing to the set up of computer centers esp. in African rural areas. This is in the endeavours to bring educ. & to "bring the university to the people" - in a manner that is affordable for all persons in general,
& free for the orphans, from within their own communities. |
Educated abroad in younger days... Ms. Anastanzia Namisango (71) conducts a computer lesson to ladies at Nakaseke Tele-centre. Many rural folks are very excited
about the introduction of computers &
computer centers in their communities (File photo) - Monitor |
9. Our Role Models In Social & Economic Development?
We have many great esp. Africa-related models, the top ones
including: Saint Janani (Jonah) Luwum(RIP); Dr. Lukwiya(RIP);
Dr. Lucille & Pierre Teasdale(RIP) from Canada; and orphans' patron
Archbishop Jonah Okoth(RIP). Some models as the MUK &
Nairobi Univ. educated Dr. Chs. Oker(RIP) were born & lived
with huge challenges, yet still became v.helpful physicians. These cheerful models all thoroughly loved their work,
practically committing their very own lives - so that others may live.
Lukwiya with his U.K Liverpool Univ. educ. saved many lives.
The Lucilles utilized their Canadian education to save many
lives, out of a very remote 'dangerous' area of N.Uganda....
Uganda's 'hopeless' cases in Lacor hospital.
The Lucilles spoke Luo language as if it was their own original language & trained very many ladies into first rate nurses
or doctors. Their hospital staff, including Dr. Lukwiya were / are also dedicated, able to commit their life to save other lives.
Today the Lucilles' daughter carries on their Uganda vision.
The above role models lived daily within/among us, bringing to us v.good educ., plenty of hope & abundant life (Jn.10:10) |
Ug. Oct.30, 2003-models of hope: Dutch minister Agnes van Arche speaks with a young girl who has just returned from the bushes to which she had been abducted by the Lords-Resistance Army (LRA)...HOPE VERSE:Is.25:6-9 |
10. What we consider a main challenge currently?
The priority challenge has to do with attaining peace
through contributing viable solutions towards the
the ending of violence and physical brutalities e.g
through helping towards getting
voices of concerned
ladies/parents/orphans heard and taken seriously
by groups or bodies that can be of support.
Apathy is like ignoring a fire that can spread worldwide.
Many affected pple are exhausted from constant fleeing:
young children in some cases have fled after witnessing the chicken - like slaughter or beheadings of their
most
dear parents. |
 |
Those abducted to the bushes and forced to fight face the scary dangers of dying on the rebels' front lines.
U.N estimates that of 20,000 children so far abducted, 8,500 N.Uganda children are being held in slavery &
85% of LRA army are the abducted children.
We do our best in all possible ways to educate persons
into more deeply understanding among others Zech.4:6
that winning is not by force/physical might but by LOVE.
This we do along with other mainly educating ladies groups. We believe the current challenges too shall come to pass
- with the help of God. |

11. Who we U-Can orphans and orphans' representatives are currently most grateful to?
We always are most grateful to God who works in persons:
We are most deeply touched by the teacher and softwares
developer, evangelist Tim Bernes-Lee. This is for freely sharing of his God - given knowledge and thereby invention of the world wide web. He refused to cash-in on his invention and has made it is accessible to all
persons, including to us orphaned ones. It's exciting to be a part of the world, both in theory & in practice. We
alongside the evangelist himself in his wishes, do
hope & pray this invention is utilized as a tool by all
- for human social, economic and general development.
Tim Bernes-Lee is to be knighted this year 2004. Describing himself as a regular guy on learning the news, he said:
"the good news about the honour is that such
things do happen to ordinary people who work
on things that happen to work out, like the web" |

12b. OUR ADVICE TO CHILDREN IN ABDUCTION?
Hold steadfast onto faith and hope, remembering always who you are as a child of the all-mighty.
Education for example is compulsory for children in many
countries, so try and focus on that, wherever you may be. To those who can technologically communicate, please do so. Thankyou.
