Location: APAC district is located in Uganda - East Africa, north of Lake Kyoga with Masindi district to the west, Gulu district to the north and Lira in the east.
Area: Total area- 6,488 sq. Kms. Land area - 5,887sq Km
Climate: Rainfall averages between 1,000 - 1,500 mm per annum, temperatures over 25oC
Terrain: Vegetation includes woodland grass and thickets
Administration Headquarters: Apac town
Population: It has 509,000 people
5 Counties: Kole, Kwania, Maruzi and Oyam N & S. with a total of 31 sub-counties

Economic Activities: Mainly agriculture and the crops include maize, finger millet, cassava, beans, simsim (sesame), pigeon peas, groundnuts, sunflower, cowpeas, bananas, tobacco, cotton, sugarcane and fruits. Fishing on Lake Kyoga is carried out as well.

Although located several kilometers from the capital city of Uganda, Apac is connected to the rest of the country and indeed to the world through modern infrastructure such as the road network and the GSM cellular networks and Postal services.
Apac district due to her Lake Kwania and Kyoga region location between Victoria Nile River and Albert Nile River, has sometimes been reffered to as "the Mesopotamia of Africa". Some have referred to Apac, home of the Uganda founding father of independence, as "the cradle of civilization". In the Greek language, Mesos stands for 'in between' or 'middle' while potamos stands for 'rivers'. The district therefore symbolizes: center positioning, middle groundedness, balance, mediations, justice and peace among others cherished.
Tourist Attractions Include: Cultural Centers & Political Heritage; Flora & Fauna as Botannical Gardening viewings, Birding & Fishing Activities; along with infinite variety associated with the Lake Kyoga - which links Victoria Nile River (from Lake Victoria in the south) and Albert Nile River that flows (on further northwards) as Mountain Nile to Sudan and onwards to Egypt, N.Africa.
